OSARO, a machine-learning-enabled robotics company, has unveiled the Robotic Depalletization System, an AI-powered solution to enhance efficiency and safety in e-commerce fulfilment and warehousing operations.
Designed to replace manual pallet unloading, this advanced warehouse automation system addresses the labour-intensive and hazardous task of unloading mixed-case pallets.
The system is integrated with OSARO SightWorks Perception Software, which empowers the robot to identify and handle packages of various sizes and materials, often stacked irregularly on mixed-case pallets.
Key features of the system include advanced recognition capabilities for mixed-case boxes, foreign object and damaged box detection, and flexible deployment options.
The AI-driven system quickly assesses case angles and prioritises the order of unloading, selecting the suitable end-of-arm tool for each package.
The OSARO Robotic Depalletization System is aimed to boost efficiency, enhance safety, cut labour costs, and reduce inventory shrinkage.
It is immediately available for use in third-party logistics (3PL) operations, distribution centres, and e-commerce fulfilment warehouses, noted the company.
OSARO CEO Derik Pridmore said: “While automated depalletisation for uniform pallets has been available for some time, OSARO’s new intelligent robotic system addresses an increasingly common scenario at the receiving dock: pallets stacked with an unpredictable variety of boxes and shrink-wrapped packages of different shapes, sizes, and weights.
“Our robotic depalletisation system can safely unload these pallets and deliver up to 40% cost savings when compared to manual labour. And, as more shifts are added, savings increase significantly.”
