Gower View Foods is a food-packaging company based in west Wales that was officially launched in February 2007. Set up with grant support from the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), the company is now in production and working with national food companies.
PACKAGING SERVICES
Gower View Foods produces liquid stick packs, sachets and stand-up pouches for a range of products including yoghurt, alcohol, table sauces, mayonnaise, olive oil, smoothies, flavoured water, honey and jam. The company has a specialist TOYO stick pack machine that can produce 100,000 liquid sticks per day (25 million sticks per year) equivalent to the packaging of four tonnes of yoghurt.
The company also provides services including contract packing, cartoning, product ink jetting, label application, repacking stock and the hand packing of promotional products. The company also has an IWKA cartooning machine.
CONTRACTS
One of the company’s first contracts was for Rachel’s Organics, an organic dairy company based in Aberystwyth, mid-Wales. Rachel’s Organics products are sold in the majority of major UK supermarkets including Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.
Gower View was awarded a contract by Rachel’s to package its new brand of yoghurt sticks called Yogurt Squeezies.
Gower View is also in discussion with Fayrefield Foods, one of the UK’s largest independent dairy producers, over the supply of yoghurt sticks and pouches. In addition, dairy company R Rossa & Sons Ltd of Leicester are in negotiations with Gower View to package its probiotic fruit yoghurts from Rossa’s production unit in Caldicot, south Wales.
FINANCE
Gower View Foods was the first business to move into the new incubation units at Cross Hands Business Park, which has been designated as a centre of excellence for food technology. The scheme was partly funded by a £2.74m investment by the WAG and Carmarthenshire County Council and was opened by Enterprise Minister Andrew Davies in February 2007
Gower View has been awarded Soil Association accreditation for packing organic products and is supported by Food Centre Wales, Carmarthenshire County Council, the Business Centre Swansea and Lloyds TSB.
