Notably, Production Occupations jobs accounted for a 16% share of the global packaging industry’s future of work-related total new job postings in Q4 2023, down 24% over the prior quarter.
Production Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity
Production Occupations, with a share of 16%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the packaging industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 24% quarter-on-quarter. Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 19% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent future of work roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with an 11% share in Q4 2023, Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in packaging industry accounted for 29% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Tetra Pak International, Pro Mach, Avery Dennison, Orora, and Pactiv Evergreen. Together they accounted for a combined share of 29% of all future of work-related new jobs in the packaging industry.
Tetra Pak International posted 130 future of work-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Pro Mach 107 jobs, Avery Dennison 84 jobs, Orora 80 jobs, and Pactiv Evergreen 75 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 72.83% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the packaging industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 72.83% followed by Germany (4.94%) and Sweden (3.19%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 73.85% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
