Notably, Production Occupations jobs accounted for a 19% share of the global packaging industry’s social responsibility-related total new job postings in Q4 2023, down 24% over the prior quarter.
Production Occupations drive social responsibility-related hiring activity
Production Occupations, with a share of 19%, emerged as the top social responsibility-related job roles within the packaging industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 24% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 21% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent social responsibility roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 10% share in Q4 2023, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in packaging industry accounted for 41% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Pactiv Evergreen, Stora Enso, Pregis, Ball, and Berry Global Group. Together they accounted for a combined share of 41% of all social responsibility-related new jobs in the packaging industry.
Pactiv Evergreen posted 406 social responsibility-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Stora Enso 280 jobs, Pregis 261 jobs, Ball 233 jobs, and Berry Global Group 147 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 70.69% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of social responsibility-related new job postings in the packaging industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 70.69% followed by the UK (4.05%) and Sweden (3.80%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points lower than the 75.47% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
