Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Krones filed the most robotics patents within the packaging industry in Q1 2024. The company filed 10 robotics-related patents in the quarter, compared with 4 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Sidel International with 5 robotics patent filings, AGCO (3 filings), and Ocado Group (3 filings) in Q1 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 26% share of total patent filings
The largest share of robotics related patent filings in the packaging industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 26%, followed by Japan (10%) and China (9%). The share represented by the US was 5% lower than the 31% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
